MORE THAN JUST POINTS OF LIGHT(STAR)⭐

 WHAT IS STAR?

Luminous spheroids of plasma held together by self gravity,they are formed from clouds of dust and gas.

 Stars are giant ball of hot gas with 

.Helium

.Hydrogen

.other elements present inside them.

In the star core there is sufficient pressure and temperature that produce energy which help in hydrogen fusion.

Conversion of hydrogen into helium is k/a hydrogen fusion which helps stars from collapsing. That's why the life span of a star is bounded by how much hydrogen it has available for fusion.


The life span of a star is about a few million to trillions of years.

Larger the size of star the hotter they are and will burn through its hydrogen and die ,

That's why for stars that are larger in size we say “they live fast and die young”.


Surface temperature of the star decide the colour of stars,in terms of temperature they are classified into-

O- hottest/blue

B

A

Sun

F

G-sun/yellowish white


K

M-cooler/reddest


Light and radiation we observe in the universe originate from stars, for example clusters of stars,nebula lit by stars.


Stars occur in pairs,multiple systems and star clusters,members of such stellar groups are related through origin and bound by mutual gravitation attraction.

Star clusters are somewhat related to stellar association.

Star clusters

Star clusters are a group of stars tightly packed together for a long time through gravitational attraction whereas a stellar association is a group of stars that isn't tightly bound by gravity so eventually the stars separate and don't stay together for a long time as compared to star clusters.


From earth stars appear to be fixed point of lights from observable universe there are upto septillion stars(10²² to 10²⁴)

4,000are visible through the naked eye in the Milky way galaxy.


For naming the most prominent stars we divide them into constellations and asterisms.

Names given to brightest stars and astronomers have assembled star catalogues that identify the known stars and provide standardised stellar designation.
